Crabs

The blue crab species, Callinectes Sapidus, is native to the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts, including Maryland and the Chesapeake Bay. Depending on the time of the year, the Crab Shanty receives crabs from The Chesapeake Bay, Louisiana, and Texas. Generally due to size only Louisiana and Texas crabs are served in our dining room beginning in the spring and Maryland ones toward the end of the the local season in late October when they are at their largest.

Crab Soup Cookoff: Saturday, November 22, 2008

Come see our Chef, Chris Cherry, compete at the Ultimate Crab Soup Cookoff. It will be held Saturday, November 22, 2008, from 11am–4pm at the Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, MD. Annual Holiday Display

Santa and his elves have taken over the Crab Shanty! Starting Friday, November 28th, see our dazzling, annual holiday display. Decorating the restaurant for the Christmas holidays has been a King Family tradition for over 25 years. There are tons of trees, thousands of twinkling lights, lots of snow and that jolly man himself, Santa Claus. Above our antique post office booths, be sure not to miss the original sleigh used in the movie “White Christmas,” starring Bing Crosby & Danny Kaye.

While checking out the display be sure to have a glass of our family recipe eggnog, it packs quite a yuletide punch! Eggnog not your style, we also offer an extensive holiday beverage menu in our Pub.

We will be serving dinner on both Christmas Eve & New Year’s Eve, featuring a limited menu. Reservations are highly recommended and fill up fast. Be sure to call 410-465-9660 to reserve your spot during our holiday celebration.
